Copperwing Design is an identity management firm providing a full range of integrated brand strategy, design and consulting services with a specialty in multi-layered messaging to a multi-target audience. Based in Montgomery, Alabama and founded in 1999, the firm serves local, regional and national clients.
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, USA – Copperwing Design + Identity Management has unveiled
a new multimedia campaign as a part of a rebranding initiative for Schreiber LLC,
an international manufacturer of wastewater treatment systems with installations
at more than 2,000 facilities worldwide.
Copperwing created the new positioning, “Pure Ingenuity,” and modernized Schreiber’s
logo, establishing a strong, contemporary identity while preserving established
equity. Copperwing also created a sub-brand system that visually links all products
to the parent brand. Everything was consolidated with a comprehensive brand standards
guide to ensure consistency across all communications.
A new series of ads highlights Schreiber’s energy-saving CSR (Continuously Sequencing
Reactor), which combines aeration and mixing in a single basin; the Fuzzy Filter™,
with its innovative compressible media; and the manufacturer’s hands-on commitment
to fit and finish. For Schreiber’s web site, Copperwing developed a new design allowing
for easier navigation and access to specific products and services.
In preparation for the annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition
and Conference (WEFTEC), Copperwing redesigned the Schreiber exhibit, developing
a new floor plan and creating an overarching signature topper to frame the large
space. A new color scheme was integrated into the booth, along with a banner stand
system and an updated vehicle wrap for the Fuzzy Filter demo trailer. From furnishings
to carpeting to team wear, everything was planned out to maximize Schreiber’s brand
presence.
Schreiber has been delighted with the rebranding effort and communications strategy.
Thacher Worthen, president of Schreiber LLC, said, “[We] had a very tight timeline
to identify a company image and redesign its entire creative base from logos, web
site, advertising and industry show booth. Copperwing met every deadline, was responsive
to our needs, and delivered a top-notch product.”

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) recently recognized Neptune Technology
Group Inc. for its innovative exhibit design at the Association’s yearly international
trade show, the 2008 Annual Conference & Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia.
Neptune, a manufacturer of end-to-end Automatic Meter Reading and Billing systems
based in Tallassee, Alabama, joined 568 other companies at the conference. The company
was one of 92 in the large booth category – and one of only three in that category
to take home a Best of Show award.
Neptune received the Bronze Award in the large booth category in the Annual Best
of Show by the Manufacturers/Associates Council sponsored by AWWA. Neptune was the
only utility management systems company so honored.
Ronald Port, chair of the Manufacturers/Associates Council, said, "[Neptune’s] booth
was recognized for its impressive creativity, showmanship, educational value and
clear product messaging in booth design."
Designed by identity management firm Copperwing Design, headquartered in Montgomery,
Alabama, the exhibit serves as an introduction to Neptune’s new ARB® Utility Management
Systems™. The exhibit features four satellite plasma screen presentations detailing
the company’s ARB® Mobile, ARB® FixedBase and ARB® Hybrid systems, as well as Neptune’s
revenue management tools.
The exhibit space is anchored by a central tower, topped by a revolving, elliptical
Neptune logo. Near the base of the tower is a large screen that plays a video hosted
by Neptune President and CEO Charles DiLaura. The high-definition video officially
unveiled the full suite of Mobile, FixedBase and Hybrid ARB Utility Management Systems
at AWWA ACE08.
Kent Murray, Vice President Marketing for Neptune, said, “This has been a big year
for us. Before the conference, we knew that two of our products, the AMR Permalog®
and R900® WiFi Gateway, were spotlighted in the ACE08 New Technology Showcase.
“But the exhibit award was unexpected icing on the cake. It’s a great honor to be
recognized at an international level. The AWWA conference is one of the biggest
events in the industry, and we wanted to ensure we had a good showing. It’s gratifying
to know all our marketing efforts were rewarded.”
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA – Copperwing Design, a Montgomery-based identity management
firm, has opened its new office building in Parliament Place off of Vaughn Road,
marking a major milestone in its nine-year history.
Led by principals Angela Stiff and Nell Rankin, Copperwing Design specializes in
identity development and brand strategy for businesses and industries including
financial service, retail, technology, and manufacturing.
The construction of the new Copperwing building was executed by Marshall Design-Build.
Marshall assembled and managed a team that included Cherry McNab Architects and
Cindy E. Barganier Interiors for the project.
The building’s design incorporates several pieces of Montgomery history, including
restored original barstools from the former Kress five-and-dime store located in
downtown Montgomery. Belgian cobblestones, originally brought to Montgomery from
Mobile via riverboat, were also included in Copperwing’s new facility. The cobblestones
were salvaged from the streets around Union Station during construction of the Montgomery
Civic Center in the 1970s.
A courtyard, complete with covered tables and wireless Internet access, is designed
to serve as an outdoor meeting space as well as a break area for employees. The
antique courtyard gate was salvaged from the restoration of a home in Old Cloverdale.
Copperwing began operating from the new facility on May 12.
MONTGOMERY, AL – The Montgomery Advertising Federation named Leon Barwick of Copperwing
Design “Copywriter of the Year” at its 2007-2008 ADDY Awards ceremony on February
16. Copperwing also earned the “Best In Show (Print)” ADDY for its work on the Montgomery
Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Report.
The awards were two of a total of 29 ADDYs the Montgomery-based firm received at

Barwick, who joined Copperwing Design as copy director in 2006, submitted work for
a variety of clients, including Neptune Technology Group, the Business Council of
Alabama, and Waterscape Marine.

for work across a variety of categories, including Direct Marketing, Sales Promotion,
Collateral Material and Consumer or Trade Publication.

at the famed Golden Nugget in Las Vegas on October 20, 2007.
The judges recognized the brand identity firm, together with the Nevada-based production

commercial for The Shoppes at EastChase in Montgomery, Alabama, featured a frustrated
woman at her sewing machine who learns that clothes that are hard to find elsewhere
can be found just down the road.
The sixty-second spot, “Make it Myself,” was written by Copperwing copywriters Blu
Gilliand and Leon Barwick, and produced along with Mind Theatre Audio engineer Matt
Smith, under the creative direction of Copperwing Managing Partner Angela Stiff.
“We’re all proud to receive this award,” said Stiff. “It was a fun spot to hear
